…and on the 8th day, micro fiction was published on some dude's blog.

Jen saw him out of the corner of her eye. She played it cool, pretending not to notice. She hadn’t anticipated this turn of events and she needed to time her reaction just right to get out of the situation unscathed.

She saw him rear back, and right as he released the ball, she ducked.

Ping! She felt the red rubber playground ball smack her in the ankle.

She should’ve jumped, not ducked.

She watched the ball bounce away and saw Mick run after it. Mick! Of course it was him—he had been gunning for her for days.

And now he got her; it was a clean hit and there was nothing she could do about it but wait. Wait until another player in her 24/7 Ball Freeze Tag League came to her rescue and unfroze her.

It was just unfortunate that she got herself frozen at the front of the self check-out line at the grocery store. Much cursing and dirty looks from those behind her ensued, until they realized she wasn’t moving and just went around her. She felt bad but couldn’t even apologize. She was frozen.

And on top of that, her ice cream was DEFINITELY going to melt.
