…and on the 8th day, micro fiction was published on some dude's blog.

Pastor Bob

Pastor Bob stood by the front doors of the church, ready to greet the congregants, holding a stack of papers and wearing a huge goofy grin.

He was always happy to see anyone, new or familiar, show up for the Sunday service, but he was particularly excited today.

As families and individuals started to show up and trickle in to the sanctuary, Pastor Bob met them with a handshake and warm words of welcome, then handed each person a sheet from his stack of papers, barely containing a giggle each time he handed one out.

Most people just took the paper and nodded in thanks, but didn’t really look at it and had no reaction otherwise. A few people looked at their papers and smiled knowingly, some looked confused, and a handful gave the pastor disapproving frowns.

The papers–photocopies of the front of Pastor Bob’s hand with the message “Happy PALM Sunday!” written on them–were Bob’s idea, and he was very proud of them.

Bob figured there might be some people who’d think the papers were in bad taste, but he didn’t let the frowners get him down. After all, it wasn’t every day that Palm Sunday also happened to be April Fools’ Day. He didn’t know when he’d get another chance to pull off a prank that hilarious, so he just went for it.
